Che, by far is a very layered man in terms of his values and ideals. He seems to believe in a certain set of principles and yet act on another. History wise, we know him as an Hispanic freedom fighter for his people whom also murdered countless souls in the name of peace and freedom. This sets up the stage of his character to be viewed in either a darker or lighter spotlight.
If I were the director, questions such as "Whom was this man, truely?" and "What swayed him from his ideals of equality and freedom to oppression and government sovereignty?" would be the first to be answered. Che is an interesting character to analyze because, like most of us, he started off with good ideas, good intentions, and thought of the wellbeing of his fellow man. However, as the old proverb says - "Power Corrupts." which holds true even for Ernesto Che Guevara.
